About the Event
Do you feel like what you learn at school prepares you for the future? Have you ever written an essay, or done a neverending maths exercise, thinking what is the point? Who really benefits from our school system?
If school ever gets you down, or you feel like it has its priorities wrong, then come and join us to think about what school actually is! This is a two part discussion workshop where we will learn through dialogue and exploring ideas. The first session looks at the UK school system, and we will be using our own experiences to critically analyse the role school has in our society. Part two is a film screening/discussion looking at the global and historical context of the school to deepen our understanding of how powerful a tool education is, and how it has been used for the benefit of the few the expense of the many. Time for some change!
