About the Event
In the digital age our generation has grown up with film - its gone from being the new thing to literally everywhere and is by far the most popular form of media. At Radical Restart we love films - we love the way they bring stories to life, give us glimpses into completely different realities and well you do look a bit weird eating popcorn while reading the newspaper...
This week we'll be watching the incredible Persepolis - based on Satrapi's graphic novel about her life in pre and post-revolutionary Iran and then in Europe. The film traces Satrapi's growth from child to rebellious, punk-loving teenager in Iran. In the background are the growing tensions of the political climate in Iran in the 70s and 80s, with members of her liberal-leaning family detained and then executed, and the background of the disastrous Iran/Iraq war.
It's a beautiful anitmated film that combines the personal and political in a hugely powerful way, defo one not to miss! - check out the trailer here!
This is one of the amazing films we want watch and these sessions are our invitation to come join in - we'll watch the film, have some discussion and get to know each other. If you haven't been to any of our events before this is a great way to get involved and meet some of the young people already engaged - hit the RSVP above and we'll see you there!
