About the Event
200 years ago thousands of Stroud Weavers rioted in response to crap conditions and pay, dunking people in millponds in protest. Right now, communities globally are rising up against the occupation of their lands and the trampling of our collective human, people’s and Mother Earth rights.
Before we remember and reawaken the spirit of the Stroud Water Riots and dunk our current (symbolic) millowner in the canal on Saturday 8th November - we need to build one! This session will be one of 2 where we're building our very own Mill Owner (ready for dunking!) - so come along this Wednesday at 6pm at Redz Youth centre or on November 5th at Trinity Rooms 11-1 to help us build our effigy and learn why we're remembering the riots.
