About the Event
In the digital age our generation has grown up with film - its gone from being the new thing to literally everywhere and is by far the most popular form of media. At Radical Restart we love films - we love the way they bring stories to life, give us glimpses into completely different realities and well you do look a bit weird eating popcorn while reading the newspaper...
This week we'll be watching Crip Camp, A Disability Revolution - coming out just a few months ago this amazing films charts the fight for disabled rights in the US through the 1970s. Starting at Camp Jened, a summer camp in New York run by hippies for young disabled people the film dives into their lives and the fights for justice that are core to this incredible community. A film that truly embraces the human spirit and for us at Radical Restart, where one of our principles is diversity is our strength, this is a powerful call to explore and understand how ableism harms all of us - check out the trailer here!
This is one of the amazing films we want watch and these sessions are our invitation to come join in - we'll watch the film, have some discussion and get to know each other. If you haven't been to any of our events before this is a great way to get involved and meet some of the young people already engaged - hit the RSVP above and we'll see you there!
