The How and Why of Assemblies - RYSE Workshop for Mutiny
Tue, 17 Sept
|Access Bike Shop
We're organising our Mutiny around Assemblies - but no, not the sit-in-rows, listen-to-the-teacher, sing-hymns-until-you-die-of-boredom kind of Assembly... These are the change-the-world, build-community-from-the-ground-up-and-kick-ass kind of Assemblies! For 13-25 year olds only - see you there!
Time & Location
17 Sept 2024, 19:00 – 21:00
Access Bike Shop, 10 John St, Stroud GL5 2HA, UK
About the Event
As part of our support for Mutiny, the RYSE is running a co-designed series of workshops to upskill folks as Mutiny Organisers + spread the ideas behind Mutiny to loads more local young people - and this session is all about Assemblies and we'll be learning about:
- How to hold Assemblies and what went into the first Youth Assembly on 28th of July,
- How essential real honest open discussion is for true bottom-up Democracy,
- and Why we think building Community Assemblies is key to a strategy of real transformation - including examples from our Global Family across the world who are far ahead of us right now!
And please don't think you have to be an expert to come along, these aren't things any of us are taught about and we're all learning together - so bring you curiosity and that's all you'll need. There will be snacks but not dinner so do eat beforehand and bring some paper and a pen - and make sure you see the location info:
- Tuesday 20th - 6:30-8:30pm - in the Trinity Rooms - https://maps.app.goo.gl/KL4oxdAdFLoU62hp9
- Sunday 1st - 1-3pm - is To Be Decided but will be in Stroud centre/no less that 10 mins walk
- Tuesday 17th - 7:00-8:30pm - will be at 10 John Street (AKA the Access Bike Shop)
And finally these sessions are specifically for 13-25 year olds only as they're youth-for-youth educational spaces designed to help people get involved in Mutiny - but don't worry Olders (over 25s) there will be lots coming your way soon and if you're keen to stay in the loop then sign the Declaration of Support and you'll get all the info!
