What to do about being English??

Join us to build a bottom-up definition of Englishness that isn’t full of racist bullshit - a residential weekend for young activists/organisers (16-30yrs)

Right now, the far right is winning the battle on what it means to be ‘English’ - from flag to families, fascism is building it’s base on peoples need for collective identity and cultural belonging. The radical left has been scared to touch this and/or struggled to counter it for lots of reasons- whether due to considering these identities to be inherently imperialist/racist, the complexities of holding plural identities and experiences of migration, being told you have no claim to 'Englishness', dislike of nation states in general, shame, classism, and more!

As such, we're hosting this residential to ask: shall we fight to rename 'Englishness' in a radical way? Would we be more powerful if we had some sort of collective…
